77th Independence Day was celebrated at ABS Global Smart School, Thiruvallur with great fervour and pride. The school was decorated with tricolors - saffron, white and green, which brought upon extreme joy to the eyes of the beholders. To commemorate the sovereignty of the nation, our beloved Chairman, Dr. S. Ramesh Subramanian unfurled the tricolour flag while the choir sang “Thayin Manikodi” and “Vande Matram” and expressed the joy of our freedom.
The dignitaries, parents and students were seated in the open-air theatre. Our Chairman sir and Vice-principal ma’am addressed the gathering. Students of Classes I, II & VI delivered their speeches enlightening everyone about our 76 years of Independence & about those heroes of our nation who sacrificed their lives for our independence. Investiture ceremony was conducted on this auspicious day to enlighten our school leaders to follow the paths of our national leaders. They pledged to faithfully work for the school, to put in honest efforts and to be a great inspiration for their juniors.
Our Kindergarten munchkins dressed up as freedom fighters and gave a splendid performance. The choir team sang “Vellai Pookal”, a melodious song that aroused powerful emotions in the audience. Followed by this, the western fusion dance kindled the spirit of freedom for the viewers. Our students of Classes VIII & IX performed a mime under the theme “Evil effects of using smartphones”. Through body movements and gestures, they made the mood of the audience oscillate between laughing & deep grief, on seeing such social issues being enacted in front of them.
Prize Distribution took place to acknowledge those students who bought laurels for themselves and the school in both scholastic and non-scholastic areas.
The program culminated with the Vote of Thanks and the National Anthem. Sweets were distributed to the gathering. Indeed, it was a day of joy, a day to love and respect our country and make it a better place for Indians to live and experience the freedom, peace and Unity in Diversity.
